Credibility. None. Part One

Aloha Friends. Welcome back. Part 1 of 2.  Credibility, None

There are many strong and energy-filled conservatives and Republicans in Hawaii.  Thank youThe Hawaii Republican Party can be better.

Writing to conservatives & Republicans, mostly in Hawaii, I email rather than blog because this is a (quasi) private discussion. These reports chronicle HRP’s story with enormous amounts data and solutions. My perspective is that of conservative, Republican, former State Party Chairman & RNC member. I am not here writing for any of my current conservative organizations, nationally or in Hawaii. These reports augment what you should hear from HRP, or what you need to research. Ask party leaders to act, or continue to lose. We won’t always agree but we should be informed. Hawaii conservatives should know they are not alone. Please forward this to conservatives or ask to be removed.

To know where you’re going, you have to know where you’ve been.  We’ve provided reports at least monthly for six years.  Not my site, but my reports

HRP failed, again, and has no plan for 2018.  HRP is unable to challenge Democrats until we solve our internal administrative and ideological issues.  Republicans must first fix their house.  We need a conservative, competent, organized, manned, and funded HRP with committed leaders.  Shapiro SA “The GOP brand is shot in Hawaii, and the party won’t recover as a relevant political force anytime soon.”

Running for NRA Board at Please LIKE .

Meetings – Finances – By the Numbers – HRP

GAOS. Great American Outdoor Show, PA. The world’s largest outdoor event, 600,000 SF. 1200 vendors, 180,000 attend over the ten days. Good fun, new friends. Public event, you need to go.

Hawaii. Quick stop for NRA campaign and time with our conservatives.

-American Conservative Union Foundation Honored to be reelected to the ACUF Board of Directors. Longest conservative organization in the nation, ACU is known for our annual ratings of congress, and now all 50 states (Hawaii Rs have a disgusting 29/100 average!).  ACU/ACUF Board includes Morton Blackwell, John Bolton, Tom DeLay, Grover Norquist, Ned Ryun, Mary Matalin, and 30 others. Our big event that we host each year is CPAC.

CPAC, MD.  Crushed it. Kellyanne Conway opened. Priebus & Bannon, VP Pence, Cruz, POTUS, Sheriff David Clarke, Wayne LaPierre, hundred others. 10,000 attend the four-days. Controversy inviting and dis-inviting Milo, and when Alt-Right was bounced. Check FB page for photos.

-Capitol Hill Norquist Wednesday invite-only meeting, Weyrich lunch invite-only. Couple gun shows, business considerably up since before Christmas. Couple county GOP meetings (obviously not in Hawaii because there are NO GOP meetings in Hawaii).

Revelations of HQ money hanky-panky coincide with Rohlfing/Hellreich/Liu (R/H/L) hiring a lawyer to silence HIRA. HIRA still waiting for our impotent HQ to initiate their lawsuit.  HQ is feckless, as always.

-HRP FEC  OMGosh. Even with ‘big’ event, HRP end of January RED again. Receipts $14,634 + 0 RNC bailout + 0 state account transfer. FEC Sustaining Donors: No Exec Cmte (no Rohlfing, Hellreich, Ward, nor anyone), zero district chair, only 1 member for $8. When leaders don’t buy in, don’t expect others to do so. Disbursements $20,088 = 20k admin overhead + 0 for elections. CoH down from 75k to 69.8k means that CoH for operations = 2k + 11.7k CSC + 5k counties. They combined accounts to hide mortgage so estimate is 50k in mortgage account for 70k due mortgage.

HRP CSC. Treasurer Smart and R/H/W have no idea how to use CSC soft money.

Pay outs= 6251 more on Koolau event+1000 merchant fees+455 printing+1000 entertainment, 3010 James salary+1595 payroll tax, 1476 mortgage+2641 building maintenance+265 utilities, 1448 copier rental, 259 phone, 152 cable, 300 MailChimp, and Rohlfing was reimbursed 300. Nothing expended on elections, messaging, or lobbying. Paid double for deferred copier but went another month with paying health insurance, and again deferred compliance consulting and accounting to next month.

Rohlfing did not purchase an event table, NOT EVEN A TICKET.  Apparently, only suckers pay.

-Oahu League Thomas says 117k gross, which is not relevant. Only net is relevant and they’re afraid to release that (probably 65-70k). Arguing to keep HQ, Thomas says mortgage is down to 70k, but ooops, there is nothing in the FEC report to show that mortgage was paid down. If she or Smart were honest, and we always doubt their numbers, it means they did all that work, used all those resources, delayed party-building for two months, delayed LDD by two months so far, put no funds towards elections, all to knock only 21k off mortgage. 70k remaining is in addition to the 30k+/year just in maintenance fee (CAM) to have a place no one uses.

-After three years defending HQs excessive salary for Tagavilla and now Music Man, in an effort to keep a hole-in-the-water HQ office facility, Oahu League NOW criticizes HQ for hiring ANY staff instead of paying off the inanimate building. #hypocrites

-Older, inexperienced Exec Dir Music Man makes much less than his younger, inexperienced predecessor. He desperately needs the income.  Based on ineffectiveness, he makes 70% more than he is worth.

By the numbers

0.  freebeacon: hawaii-not-issue-single-gun-carry-permit-2016

5.  HRP lacks integrity to address Rs – Thielen (ACU 24), Carroll, McDermott (ACU 57), Pine, Fenton – who endorsed 2012 Ds against Rs. Add, 2014 Cheape (15), Fukumoto (43), Egge, and Hannemann’s ‘Rohlfing Rs.’ 2016 Kaaihue, Pine, Combs, Djou.

29.  out of 100. House R ACU 2016 average, down further from a 2015 terrible 34.  Maui Dem is Hawaii most conservative.  McDermott & Tupola score in mid-30s, Ward is lowest at 27.

47.  Months since Hellreich wrote “use massive voter registration drives to Increase our chances of winning.” 23 since she said “We need voter registration drives.”  No HRP voter reg drive in five+ years.

51.  Months since the ’12 required HRP financial audit was to be conducted. 39 since the ’13 audit was due. 28 since HRP chair promised. Donors don’t give when finances are in question.

50.  McDermott swears he is conservative, as if retelling a lie makes it true. ACU 50 lifetime = liberal.

100.  Paul Smith reminder: “FYI….Jones act is 100 years old in 2017. Time to end it!”

615.  Days (as of March 1) to the 2018 General election.

HIRA’s exposure of Saiki and R/H/L corruption shows that HRP needs cleansing.  Fearful R legislators are as culpable as the State Cmte is incompetent.

Glad many folks who thought it mean to criticize HQ, now see the light about HQ incompetence and problems they cause HRP.  Welcome to my house. Remember that you saw it first from Ryan, then Lee, then HIRA. I’ve grown bored.  You are welcome.

-Beth Fukumoto-chang waffling on leaving GOP.  Fritz Rohlfing, Miriam Hellreich, Gene Ward presided over the loss of the R Senate and House leaders, wow. Lingering question: Since Rohlfing, Hellreich, and Ward made this a “candidate-centric” party, do all Republicans now have to switch to the Democrat Party? Way to go GOP “leaders”.

Stop. Please. Rohlfing release about Fukumoto-chang “I therefore urge her to remain in the Republican Party.” She was ousted from leadership for continued bashing of Republicans, campaigning against our President at a Democrat anti-Trump rally, for an ACU score below most Dems, for voting to raise taxes. HQ announced the change but neither of the new guys -Andria Tupola or Ward – are  prepared or courageous enough to announce their own caucus coup. Still haven’t

-Cynthia Thielen fake news to her fringe liberal Republicans “I tried hard to keep Beth as Minority Leader.  But Gene and Bob (McDermott) were determined to punish her for participating in the Women’s March, as did I.  Beth was the face of a young, intelligent, articulate Republican leader.  We now will probably lose her, and then our small Republican Caucus will be controlled by narrow minded right wing fundamentalists. I plan to stay and fight. Cynthia“  Liar, snowflake.

Funnier? Ready FB to Fukumoto-chang “Please stick with the Republican Party. We need both conservative and liberal opinion within the party, and you are needed.”  Does Ready think Fukumoto-chang is the conservative or the liberal?  Needed for what? She didn’t raise funds, didn’t help to organize or recruit, shrunk her caucus from miniscule to micro.

Hinton district chair “As Fukumoto’s departure is a virtual certainty, our failure to sever all ties cleanly now will only result in a protracted and ugly separation.  Her continued use of our party in order to grandstand and further undermine the Trump presidency is unacceptable.“

Kulbis district chair to Rohlfing “It has been a week since I requested you call an emergency meeting of the State Committee to debate and adjudicate Rep. Fukumoto’s (chang) continued membership in the Hawaii Republican Party. Now I’ve heard from National Committeeman Ward, Rep. Bob McDermott, our Secretary Boyd Ready, and even discussed this with Executive Director Jack James on the 808 State Update.  However, I’ve yet to hear from the one person that actually has the authority to call this meeting and that is you. While Rep Fukumoto continues to hijack the narrative and National attention.  Maybe your silence and unwillingness to take action can be accredited to this article in Elle online because you had insider knowledge about Rep Fukumoto’s ambition to run for Congress.  This could also explain your comment in your press release where I now believe you begged her to remain a Republican.  Additionally, it’s been 57 days since the State Committee unanimously voted, approved, and directed you to publicly announce that Councilwoman Pine is no longer a Republican to eliminate any public confusion.“  Now, three weeks without even an acknowledgement from Rohlfing.  Embarrassing.

-Hawaii ½ County chair Yonan “I FOR ONE VOTE FOR HER (Fukumoto) TO BE Ousted as a Republican. And the Same goes for Democrat Kim Pine!“

-HQ had the opportunity to save embarrassment and get rid of Fukumoto-chang. Kulbis warned “It’s in our party’s interest to take charge of this public debate and ‘fire Beth’ before she belatedly tells the world she quit.“  Instead Pat Saiki, Rohlfing, Boyd Ready, Allred team with SA Borreca to beg her to stay.

Jeremiah email (excerpts) to party leaders “I am so disappointed in the way this has been handled and no matter what leadership may or may not believe this Party is supposed to represent a strong a concerted effort to defend a conservative view point and eliminate those who do not. If we cannot see where the real problem lies and are not willing to truly change than we had might as well change our name to the Republican branch of the Democratic party. Beth, Kim Pine, Aaron Johansson are not the problem, the problem is no one can tell the difference between the Republican and Democratic parties because we are too busy supporting their efforts instead of our own and are more afraid of political correctness than doing the right thing.“

Ward email to HQ leaders about Fukumoto-chang “Her Caucus wants her to stay.“ This explains Ward’s dismal record. Since Ward became micro-caucus emeritus, we’ve lost two micro leaders, one already to the D party, several house seats, and Every. Single. Challenger. Race.

-Ward’s huge conflict of interest, as predicted here and by HIRA. He can represent the caucus and be a legislator, or he can represent conservative values and be the GOP NCM. So far, he has failed at both.

Harlor to Ward “What left me with bad taste in my mouth was your last sentence.  “Ask not what the Republican Party of Hawaii can do for you, ask what you can do for the Hawaii Republican Party.” You’re kidding, right?  My wife and I started going to HRP Conventions at the last one on Kauai, we donated, supported, became delegates and all the good things one can do.  We found the HRP doesn’t follow thru on any promises, finding candidates, supporting candidates (I have ask those running for office if they have received any support and they all say NO), building the party, and nothing is accomplished. Where were any of them at last week’s forum about the GOP, in fact, where were you?  Where are they when issues arise, no comments.  Where was our supposed supporters of the GOP during last year’s election, The Never-Trumpers, Charles and Duke, Pine supporting the Democrat running against Brain, and others that I’m not sure about. The many other Republicans, Saiki, she doesn’t represent us.“

-When Ready sent an email to what is left of the party leadership, he pleaded for Fukumoto-chang to be allowed to stay in the party “Kimberly Pine has already resigned from the party.“ Then, he evoked a term I’ve recently learned on social media, LMAO. Ready “believe we should focus on successful caucus meetings, activated precincts doing their grass roots job: the thorough working over of the precincts’ registered voter and Republican member lists, becoming acquainted with active Republicans in every precinct, and finding and supporting good candidates, for a better showing in 2018.“  HQ deliberately suppressed caucus meetings, leaving them unscheduled, and purposely NOT mailing reminder postcards to members, and not posting anything on the calendar until after the caucus period had begun. For the few districts that held meetings, attendance was abysmal, pretty much screwing up the pillar he stated ‘everything depends on successful caucus meetings’… to include he skipped his own after saying he’d be there as Party Secretary to represent HQ. Ready has already conceded 2018 because the caucus meetings, his pillar, were not successful. Good job, Ready.

-Three of four counties have not scheduled a county convention, required by Rules for this year March. Honolulu then proposed for April. Duh, about those pesky Rules?  Eight districts did not have district organizing meetings, another seven were outside the Rules mandated scheduling window, six more had less than four members attend.

Join Hawaii Rifle Association to protect our gun (civil) rights.

OLRW, perpetual whiners about email speaking truth to power, began the campaign for State chair with a nasty hit piece on Rohlfing and on Mossman’s Phoenix Cmte. Apparently, it is alright when the ladies go negative, ugly, and nasty. They support Ostrov. Huh, who? Ostrov refused to respond to campaign questionnaires asking her position on life, guns, taxes. Ostrov hasn’t been in the party 18 months (she hasn’t been around long enough for many League members to even meet her), never visited neighbor island county organizations, never been a party officer of any sort, never been to an RNC meeting, couldn’t raise funds or get enough volunteers for her own campaign, couldn’t get even her mentors Saiki and Hellreich to donate to her own campaign … is the champion for the establishment half of the party which now hates trump and Rohlfing/Music Man (Rohlfing ally only because Rohlfing pays his salary). Oahu League’s Ostrov bio contains absolutely no political creds. None.

CB; why-hawaii-republicans-are-destined-to-be-irrelevantCB biased editors are more lost than their biased liberal writers. They open by equating communist China & Russia to Hawaii democrats. They spew fake news when they report Fukumoto-chang’s opposition to Trump, failing to mention she said for two years she’d leave the GOP and her being run off the convention stage for her liberal rhetoric. Then suggest Fukumoto-chang is a moderate, whatever that means, though she can’t escape her liberal 29 ACU rating. They close by suggesting the R party would be better if it were like the D party. Huh? Good job CB. You demonstrate fake news and prove the need for conservative solutions in one article.

Save 53 minutes. Why GOP Is Dying. Seven-minute synopsis of Island Insights with conservative-libertarian Slom, Republican Hemmings, progressive Lagareta and liberal HPR Yoshioka.

Hamada to HIRA “many thanks to you and HIRA for truly taking the lead on the reformation of the Hawaii GOP with your steady and dependable information and analysis.“

-Follow this idiocy, or idiot. Island Insights asked Saiki, Rohlfing, Hellreich, Ward, Thielen, Fukumoto-chang to come on the show. None even responded, afraid of the media. Slom & Hemming did. Slom & Hemmings, having suffered the ill-effects of a negligent, lazy HRP HQ, took party leadership to task i.e. they blasted HQ. HIRA took the hour-long beat down and made highlights, mostly Slom & Hemmings. Keep reading, because the idiocy starts here. McDermott writes HIRA and whines, cusses, complains about “Willes and Eric” being nasty to his friends at HQ. McDermott, who wasn’t mentioned or even remembered in this whole TV affair, writes a paragraph to justify being conservative, he actually argues that voting to raise 40 years of taxes for rail shouldn’t really count against him. Why is this stupid?  HIRA didn’t say anything. HIRA (Ryan’s masterful work which was heard statewide on Hamada) only showed what was said by Slom and Hemmings. McDermott doesn’t have the guts to send the same email to Slom and Hemmings.  McDermott has no guts, period. Never has.

ACU 2016 ratings. 0/76 Hawaii legislators receive an award i.e. not one scored 80% or above. Of 100 points, R highest is an ultra-liberal McDermott 35, lowest is Ward 27. Highest D DeCoite 36, higher than any R.  R House average 29, three points above D’s 26. R 2016/lifetime: McDermott 35/50, Tupola 33/39, Thielen 29/25, Fukumoto 26/37, Cheape 26/18, Ward 24/33.

Less than 80 is not conservative. ACU is considered a more generous score than Heritage Action or Conservative Review. Every Hawaii R received a failing grade in 2016. For lifetime scores, not one R is conservative. Dem DeCoite (ACU 36) voted more conservatively than any R house member. Dems DeCoite 36, Har 33, Kong 33, Yamine 33, Aquino 32, Choy 32, Cullen 32, Jordan 32, McKelvey 32, Ohno 32, Tokioka 31, Say 30, Ito 29, and Oshiro 27 ALL voted more conservatively than Fukumoto 26, Cheape 26, and Ward 24. 22 Ds are more conservative than your elected NCM Ward. McDermott wrote another long whiney email to HIRA arguing he is conservative because, in his view, raising taxes doesn’t count.

-House Republicans ask Trump to halt rail payment … not OUR house micro caucus. LA Times “California’s House Republicans have asked the Trump administration to block a $650-million federal grant for the state’s high-speed rail project.“  Tupola and Ward are silent.

Lingle legacy. Appeal of President Trump’s immigration order is UNANIMOUSLY upheld (stopped) by three 9th Circuit judges. One is Rick Clifton, former HRP officer and Lingle’s nomination to that seat.  Readers “This 9th Circuit decision was as corrupt as Roberts making obamacare into a tax.“ and “Clifton is – or was – a Republican nominated to the Ninth Circuit by Hawaii’s then REPUBLICAN Governor Linda Lingle. At the time Richard Clifton was the attorney for the Hawaii Republican Party. I’m further away from the ‘Republican’ Party than ever . . .”  Go and thank Lingle.

-Honored to be a co-chairman of the Trump-Pence Second Amendment Coalition, led by Don Jr and Chris Cox, and humbled to receive LtCol Oliver North’s first-ever NRA race endorsement. AmmoLand/vote-yes-for-willes-lee-for-2017-nra-boardHonored to be appointed to the National Rifle Association of America Military and Veterans Affairs Committee and the Outreach Committee for 2016-2017.  Hat tip to our R House micro caucus: each signed McDermott’s letter to NRA asking I not be elected. Their liberal 29/100 average ACU rating convinced many voters of the right choice.  HIRA: Elect Lee to NRA Board. Running for NRA Board of Directors at Please LIKE  Thank you for you vote and support.
