“Thrilled”, part one

Aloha Friends. Welcome back. Part 1 of 2.

There are many strong and energy-filled conservatives and Republicans in Hawaii.  Thank youThe Hawaii Republican Party can be better.

Editor’s note:  There is a lot of ‘stuff’ in these reports.  Some observations and opinions are mine, but the majority is from readers, media, government and political sites.  Most always (may miss one), comments NOT mine are in blue text, and most always include quotation marks.

2016 is all about SCOTUS

Meetings – Finances – Candidates

NCFNRA banquet.  National Capital Friends of NRA Inaugural banquet.  Over 200 attend, each surprised to find there are so many 2A supporters in and around the nation’s capital.  Sold out ballroom and outer mezzanine, two raffled Barrett’s helped) at historic Army-Navy Club.

-National Convention Hawaii Delegation Meeting.  Never needed more than one meeting, reader “the third of one meeting”.  Reader “Had Rohlfing, Hellreich, Liu done their job, this would be completed in the one meeting following convention, as in the past. “  Hellreich’s demands “Bring your checkbooks and credit cards” to pay a fee we haven’t agreed on and writes that the meeting is “critical”.  Attendees “When the attendees have no say, decisions are deferred to future unscheduled meetings, when there is no leadership, someone should explain how this became critical.”  “Paikai, who should have been prepared to be delegation chair, and Trumpers’ actions after convention didn’t help this to be an organized, unified process“.  “Nathan’s attitude and nastiness at the first meeting set the tone.“  “For a delegate on a budget, this poor planning would be a nightmare!  HRP is trying to squeeze extra money out of the delegates, pretty outrageous.”  Helleich, day prior “The agenda may not be available ahead of time but it will be comprehensive. If we don’t cover any subject that anyone is concerned about, we will discuss it. The meeting will not end until we have addressed all questions and concerns.”  Delegates “I feel penalized for being part of this Delegation. These people are so discouraging.“  “Delegation fee?  Appears the Trump team didn’t know and didn’t ask as they were taken completely aback “  “Some had no idea they would have to pay anything! This included Paikai!“  “At the last meeting, Nathan repeatedly asked “where are we gonna get the money for this or that” and I said “your candidate is a businessman, why can’t he pay for it?” and Miriam kept cutting in, “No, we can’t do that, they won’t do that” and I said “Did you ask?”“

Incompetence.  Following Trump Hawaii divisiveness of the last meeting, Hellreich and Paikai continue to spilt the Hawaii GOP.  Delegate “I am not encouraged by the lack of HQ/Trump info and preparation, and lack of leadership.“  Paikai’s “mother” Hellreich sat to his left to coach him.  Three meetings and still not enough info to decide on lei or shirts, or MN activities.  Clear that the only reason for this meeting was for Hellreich’s motion, not an agenda item, to remove Ryan from the delegation.  Using Robert’s Rules, in violation of RNC Rule 28, Paikai eventually got through a vote (absolutely confused by Hellreich’s “Call the question”).  Warned about RNC Rule 28c, the Trump lemmings fell at Hellreich’s feet.  The delegation voted to remove a qualified guest of a qualified delegate of a competing campaign.  HIRA:  Island-Liberals-Block-HIRA-Leader-from-Attending-RNC-Convention  Common with HRP ‘leaders’ and Trump suck ups, emotions override principle.  Not necessarily bad people, just weak.  Even Rohlfing, who much dislikes Ryan and who authored the party Purity Pledge, voted against Hellreich.  King, afraid to cross Hellreich could at least abstain.  Weak-principled people listed here, Hellreich has no principles.

Two hours wasted on a divisive, mean-spirited meeting.  That’s your Trump team.  Voting to break the rules Miriam Hellreich, Nathan Paikai, Judy Franklin, Peter DiRocco, Bonnie Wharton, Cindy Sue Clark, John Fagan, Al Frenzel, Laurie McClary, Karen Mottas, Meilin Vitale-Vae, Ralph Winnie, Leslie-Jo Kalama, Kimo Sutton, Tim McClary, Sandra Combs, Emmanuel Tipon.

Absent – Ted Liu, Fern Mossman, Sharin Burton, Stephen Hinton.

Voting on principle – Fritz Rohlfing, Willes Lee, Brett Kulbis, Timothy Means, James O’Keefe, Brad Burton, Ron Kayano, Marieta Carino, Daniel de Gracia, Stanley Tillinghast.

Afraid to vote – Beverly Toomey, Adrienne King, Rita Kama-Kimura, Deborah Arguello.

Irony.  Trumpers cry that the RNC should NOT override ‘the peoples’ decision’ and oust Trump from the nomination.  Bad leaders, a bad motion, rules violation.  Read Part 2 for the embarrassing resolution.

No sponsors.  Trump guy asked how much the sponsors contributed to help our delegation represent Hawaii in Cleveland.  With Hellreich who promises many resources, Ward who ran for NCM as the rain-maker, businessman NCM Liu, law partner Rohlfing, and Trump guy Paikai, Hellreich says  “Well, if you find them, we’ll be happy.”  They have zero sponsors.  Paikai, Hellreich in charge and not a single sponsor.  They didn’t even try.  I cannot recall a delegation from Hawaii having no sponsors.

No organization or coordination.  Individuals sign up for lei, a shirt or skirt, events with MN on their own, all with different points of contact.  Then, two weeks of dozens of email, instructions, confusion.  The hoot?  First time ever I’ve seen OF ANY STATE with NO delegation fee.

Honolulu County meeting.  In disarray when they can’t determine a quorum, so Djou (ACU 38) doesn’t have the votes for endorsement.  14/35 Oahu district chairs, 40%, and only 2/5 vice chairs attend.  Walden storms out when the county committee ignores his made-up-on-the-spot rules.  Losing the endorsement, they table the Djou motion to try again next week.  Endorsements did NOT include Pine or Svrcina.  District chairs afraid to accept responsibility support HQ plan to NOT give the chairs their own email list.  HQ, meanwhile, has not been able to process and send out district email.  County chair humor “We had a successful meeting when only one person storms out and slams the door”.  Update: while throwing a bone to Pine and Svrcina, Walden nominates former Republican and now proud Democrat Ann Kobayashi for endorsement by the Republican Honolulu County Cmte.  Idiots explained HIRA: Lacking Candidates, GOP Endorses Dems.

Revelations of HQ money hanky-panky coincide with Rohlfing/Hellreich/Liu (R/H/L) hiring a lawyer to silence HIRA. Had HIRA succumbed, we’d never know of HRP HQ corruption.  HIRA still waiting for our impotent HQ to initiate their lawsuit.  HQ is feckless, as always.

-HRP FEC www.fec.gov May is RED, hard RED.  HQ strategy to defer bills causes them to spend 2 ½ times what Rohlfing/Hellreich/Liu raise.  Receipts only $8,285 = only 3,610 contributions + 900 RNC for charity state + 3,775 from state account which is better than only 600 R/H/L raised in March.  Sustaining Donors on record: 5/14 Exec Cmte (no Liu, no Rohlfing and only 1/5 county chair), down to 2/51 District chairs, only 3 party members. Rohlfing sadly gave up his football cable to be a sustaining members, but his name doesn’t show on the FEC report.  When leaders don’t buy in, don’t expect others to do so.  Disbursements $19,262 = $3355 Tagavilla salary+2167 payroll tax+696 med insur+830 insurance, 1476 mortgage, 5637 building maint, fee, 1500 new compliance company is taking HQ for a ride, 539 accounting, 557 cable, whopping 900 digital consulting, 734 equipment rental, 150 Mailchimp, 68 printing, 734 equipment rental, 323 office supplies.  Zero for electioneering, and no communication or candidate support or staff hiresCoH for operations about 10k + about CSC 2k soft money + 5k counties. 33k mortgage account (+4k in CSC) for 99k remaining mortgage. 12/19 months this election cycle in the RED.  Since January 1, 2015 HRP is RED 20k.  For the election cycle, HRP is 23.1k in the RED i.e. living off the RNC funds Saiki did NOT use to elect Rs last election, with no funds for 2016 campaigns & elections. HRP red 25/41 past reports.  Twelve Rohlfing months: $25k Presidential campaigns, CC event, and LDD show Rohlfing/Hellreich/Liu team a shortfall of 31.1k. HRP red 7/13 months under R/H/L.

By the numbers

0.  candidates recruited by vice chair Marumoto in her own H18. Hasham gets a free ride.

0. Credible candidates for US Senate, either House seat. HRP has no assets, few candidates. More Libs running for State Senate than Rs. Rs in less than half of House seats, and seven are incumbents.

1.  candidate recruited by Marumoto and Saiki (ACU 50) who is running against SD9 Slom.

1st. Trump endorsed incumbent NC Ellmers loses primary to her conservative opponent.  Ellmer’s is the reason for the failure of last year’s anti-abortion bill in congress.

5.  HRP lacks integrity to address Rs – Thielen (ACU 24), Carroll, McDermott (ACU 57), Pine, Fenton – who endorsed 2012 Ds against Rs. Add, 2014 Cheape (15), Fukumoto (43), Egge, and Hanneman’s ‘Rohlfing Rs.’

6.  R legislators endorsed by HSTA teacher’s union: Ward (ACU 38), Fukumoto, Cheape, Pouha (ACU 18), Thielen (ACU 24). Not? Slom (ACU 100), Ds Kong (ACU 45), Oshiro (ACU 29).

6.  Men Dressed Like Women, Daily Signal. With Obama’s edict, don’t need a disguise.

6.  Reasons Djou is a HIRA: Top Six Reasons Djou is a Democrat. Flip flop alert: he supports building the rail after he opposed building the rail, and in between, he created HART. HIRA “Djou is so LIBERAL that he almost makes RINO Beth Fukumoto seem like a conservative.“

11.  June GOP National Training Day. Not a word out of HRP, no Hawaii training. District chair “I actually was not aware of a training day until you had mentioned it!“  RNC “The Republican National Committee (RNC) will mobilize hundreds of staff and over 5,000 volunteers for a National Training Day.“  Not HRP.

11.  Billion+ is ok with Djou and the House Republicans. Stop rail now.

34.  R House micro-caucus ACU average rating. Slom = 100, Cheape = 9. ACU Ratings Hawaii 2015

38.  HRP candidates on their candidate email list; for the more than 100 races at the federal, state, and local level.

38.  Months since Hellreich wrote “the need to use massive voter registration drives to Increase our chances of winning.” 14 since she again said “We need voter registration drives.”  Still not in Hawaii.

40.  District chairs ON paper, out of 51, five months to election. Less than ¾ of Oahu chairs to aide Trump and Djou’s grassroots effort.

42.  Months since the ’12 required HRP financial audit was to be conducted. 30 since the ’13 audit were due. 19 since HRP chair promised. Donors don’t give when finances are in question.

52.  Months to the NEXT presidential election Hill: Conservatives Meet to Discuss Cruz Future.

130.  Days (as of July 1) to the Presidential election.

808.  You probably didn’t know but Aiona has a radio show. He is asking for donations to stay on the air.

No organization does more to destroy the Republican brand than the Hawaii Republican Party. A pro-life national Platform; HRP elects pro-abortion Saiki.  A record-setting RNC fundraising cycle; Rohlfing owns the two lowest raising months of the last decade.  A historic majority in the US House & majority in the Senate; HRP has 1/25 senators and 7/51 reps.  RNC fights tax increases; ‘leader’ Fukumoto supports tax increases.  SA declares HRP “irrelevant”; conservatives flock to HIRA’s conservative message. Republican Assemblies formed 1934, once led by Reagan enroute to the Governorship and Presidency, are the solution to the establishment without principles.  HRP epitomizes what Milner writes “Death is not too strong a word to use here.  Influence-wise, the Republicans here are gone, and there is no resurrection on the horizon.  So it is safe to see one-party control as a given.” Republican Party is Dead The Assemblies remain the Republican Wing of the Republican Party.

Inexcusable.  SA Editorial “As if the Republicans don’t have enough real problems this election cycle, there was drama on Tuesday at GOP-Hawaii Central. (And they do have problems: The Republicans fielded no candidates in about half of the partisan races for the state House and Senate seats.)  Party Chairman Fritz Rohlfing and party activist Mike Palcic couldn’t get through a news conference about the races without teetering on the brink of a shoving match, complete with expletives. Apparently the fight was over whether candidates could use the HQ offices to announce their candidacy.  Boys, boys!  Sit up straight and behave, or we’re going to turn this party bus around and go right home.”  SA comment “The Republican Party out here is a total joke and has been for decades.  It is sad to see such a bumbling set of fools.“  Conflicting accounts: the news says the two exchanged “Shut the f*uck up” but attendees say they exchanged “Get your f*cking hands off me”.

-Rohlfing claims his CD 1 cancer-free candidate is tone deaf.  That’s calling a kettle, uh, black.  Read any monthly report, pick any HIRA piece, pick any news article which mentions the Rohlfing/Hellreich/Liu local GOP …. then determine who may be tone deaf.

-Jack James, the Music Man, ever the inclusive champion, wants the State Cmte to throw CD 1 Kaaihue out of the party for supporting D LoPresti over R Jeremiah.  Marumoto this cycle already recruited two R candidates to challenge Jeremiah.  Plus, the party never took action with five 2012 Rs and four+ 2014 Rs who endorsed Ds over Rs.  You can add ‘hypocritical’ to ‘incompetent and irrelevant’ for the State Cmte.  Besides, it is symbolic – state law doesn’t require party membership and HRP doesn’t have a litmus test.

-KITV “So far, no one is in the running for the republicans. Duke Aiona has pulled papers the first step towards filing, for three different races including this one. KITV expects Aiona to make his intentions clear in the coming days. We also called the chairperson for the GOP but were told they did not want to comment on the race at this time.“  Squeamish HQ folks, ‘Don’t be afraid of the media.’  HIRA tells the back story HIRA:  Aiona, The Invisible Man.  “The establishment gets behind James “Duke” Aiona because: (1) RINO party leaders vouch for him as a Republican, and (2) because “there’s no one else”.

Nice job, HRP.  Rs fail to challenge in 32/65 legislative seats CB: Djou In Mayor’s Race  You lost Aiona, got Rod Tam.  Sent a press release “thrilled” with Tam but not for Djou, your targeted candidate Slom, or any other R.  You supported Djou for CD1 and he chose Mayor, and you haven’t endorsed him.  You get in a shouting & shoving match with one of your potential candidates, in public at a press conference.  You whine about how hard it is to find candidates, but publicly say you don’t and won’t support them.

-SA Cataluna: Unrepentant Rod Tam back, like a rash on Hawaii’s okole   This time he’s infected a new body, the Hawaii Republican Party.  Remember the bill to authorize naps and snacks for state workers? Remember the smelly-bus-rider bill? There was the time he blithely used the “wetbacks” slur. “We don’t want any, uh, wetbacks, basically.”  “OK. We’ve been receiving (reports of) developers or contractors been bringing in wetbacks from New Mexico. Uh, Mexico. I’m sorry. Mexico. OK. Illegal aliens. And that’s a problem here, basically. We don’t want that type.”  He wanted to turn Koko Crater into a dump. After that came the meals. Lots of them, paid for with taxpayer money and documented with phony restaurant receipts fabricated to show he was talking city business. Tam spent two days in jail and was also sentenced to 324 hours of community service. [Rohlfing] was quoted as saying they’re “thrilled” to have the convicted thief, proven liar and all-purpose goofball on their team.

HRP is unable to challenge Democrats’ and liberals’ ideology until we solve our internal and administrative issues.  We need a conservative, competent, organized, manned, and funded HRP with committed leaders. Republicans must first fix their house.  Shapiro SA “The GOP brand is shot in Hawaii, and the party won’t recover as a relevant political force anytime soon.”

-Media and HQ (and McDermott himself) touts McDermott as conservative.  His ACU 57 lifetime rating = liberal Republican, and ACU is the easiest rating.  ‘Half-truths’ and inconsistencies, McDermott now asking for HIRA to help candidates because much as he sucks up, HQ won’t and can’t support.

-Djou.  From  VoteSmart.org Djou ratings.   GOA 30. ACU 38. National Journal 60. CWA 40. Faith & Freedom 66. Eagle Forum 33.  FRC 33.

-Our friend Carol Tobias, National Right to Life “Unborn babies are safer today. Unborn babies are safer today because South Carolina became the 14th state to enact our ban on elective abortions at a stage by which medical evidence indicates an unborn baby is capable of feeling pain.  They are safer because Louisiana became the sixth state to enact our ban on dismemberment abortions.  Unborn babies are safer because today there are 600,000 fewer abortions per year than there were 25 years ago.  We still have much more to do. Unborn babies in many states still need these legal protections, and much more. You can be that voice, a voice for Life. Donate for Life  NRLC Convention, Herndon VA this month.

-Elections have consequences.  HRP and R officials are irrelevant, watching their D friends celebrate Hawaii finally being #1 in something.  Ige and the Legislature pass three of the worst gun bills, including a first in the nation rap back bill.  Yes, it’ll be challenged and ruled unconstitutional.  But, once that genie is out of the bottle, i.e. the names of every gun owner entered into the Federal database, too late to get it back in.  Get involved, support 2A candidates, vote.  The first big Hawaii first since Pat Saiki introduced abortion on demand two years before Roe v Wade.

-Join Hawaii Rifle Association to protect our gun (civil) rights.

ARE YOU SATISFIED? HRP needs leadership focused on HRP.  Forward this – people need to know, you need to act. Part 2 coming.
