Happy 2016, part one
Aloha Friends. Welcome back. Part 1 of 2. Following a wonderful Christmas, it is 2016.
There are many strong and energy-filled conservatives and Republicans in Hawaii. Thank you. The Hawaii Republican Party can be better.
Writing to conservatives & Republicans, mostly in Hawaii, I email rather than blog because this is a (quasi) private discussion. These reports chronicle HRP’s story with enormous amounts data and solutions. My perspective is that of conservative, Republican, former State Party Chairman & RNC member, now with several conservative organizations including the Republican Assemblies, ACU and NRA. These reports augment what you should hear from HRP, what is not on your radar, or what you need to research. Ask party leaders to act, or continue to lose. We won’t always agree but we should be informed. Hawaii conservatives should know they are not alone. Please forward this to conservatives or ask to be removed.

–ACU & ACUF BoD. www.conservative.org American Conservative Union Policy Forums & Activists Training Sessions in battleground states preceding Presidential debates is successful. Preparation and fundraising for March 2016 CPAC ahead of schedule. CPAC 2016 = March 2-5.
-Presidential Debate, Las Vegas. Winners Cruz, Rubio, Christie. Loser Carson. Field is shrinking. Worse: Establishment Hewitt proved his critics correct with Carson question “You are OK with the deaths of thousands of innocent children?”
-HRP FEC www.fec.gov November is BLACK, barely. HIRA forcing party to step up, HRP breaks even for a second month. Hiring, finally, an FD = more first-time donors. Rohlfing spends all the money, again leaving zero for messaging or Victory 2016. Receipts $20,317 = 15,761 contributions + 3805 CSC transfer + 750 RNC. Sustaining Donors on record: up to 8/14 Exec Cmte (not Liu or Saiki), only 4/51 District chairs, up to 19 members. When leaders don’t buy in, don’t expect others to do so. Disbursements $19,334 = $3366 Tagavilla salary+1444 payroll tax+354 health insurance, 1476 mortgage+600 mortgage principal+2731 building maint, 2609 IMS accounting, 253 phone, 2150 mail appeal, 451 Presidential caucus facilities, several bills not paid (cable, copier). Zero campaign or election expenditures. CoH for operations 24k (plus CSC 9.9k CC soft money +7k counties). Also, 37.5k mortgage account for 98k remaining mortgage. HRP again NOT reporting full Presidential caucus expenses. 7 of 11 months this CY and 9/13 months this election cycle in the RED. HRP CY FEC now 11.4k in the RED including LDD & CC revenue & Bush campaign; election cycle in the RED 41k, using ’14 RNC funds Saiki (ACU 50%) did NOT use to elect Republicans. HRP red 22/35 past reports. Seven Rohlfing FEC months: including Bush money and CC event, R/H/L raised 16.7k/month and spent 20k/month for a total shortfall of 22.6k. HRP red 4/7 months since Hellreich crowned Rohlfing.
-Rohlfing’s email tells his tale told to Oahu League – Rohlfing last month reduced his cable TV, sacrificing SOME football games, to become a sustaining donor. He was not a sustaining donor since the program restarted five years ago, including two years as county chair and six months as state chair. Shamed by these reports, he gives a few dollars/month of his pay as a law firm partner and sports marketing exec.. It is good that he finally contributes, he should encourage his Exec Cmte. Not good is his lack of gratitude for members who have contributed more for longer, many on a fixed income. Readers “This email information is only offered to donors! Instead of getting info to the masses, you have to pay for their worthless tidbits of how you’re supposed to cut your corners so he can spend frivolously, or illegally.“ “I received the very first communication from HRP since joining last August. Only after HIRA helps bring about leadership changes, would I contribute.“
–Simon bases Rohlfing’s finance plan on 600 sustaining donors. Says he met his unstated October goal. His goal is 60k for November-December, needs a Rohlfing record haul in December to meet his goal.
-Anticipating Lincoln Day low donor participation following the Martinez Bait and Switch, HQ pressures candidates to purchase tables (i.e. laundering contributions you give to candidate campaigns). With HIRA’s example of national level speakers – NRA, ACU, NRLC – HRP is trying harder.
-Compare HRP’s 2015 disaster with “RNC has raised $95.6 million for the cycle and is on pace to have one of the most successful presidential off-years in history. The RNC raised $6.3 million in November.“
Revelations of HQ money hanky-panky coincide with Rohlfing/Hellreich/Liu (R/H/L) hiring a lawyer to silence HIRA. Had HIRA succumbed they would have ceased operations the day before the controversial state meeting. Conveniently, then, we’d never know of the corruption.
–Saga continues. HRP attacks Republicans, instigates in-fighting. “[HIRA] received a cease and desist notice from a Democrat union attorney retained by the Hawaii Republican Party.“ They’re wasting time and funds they should use to beat Dems. Press Release: HRP Hires Dem Lawyer. HIRA keeps you informed, HQ has STILL not told their membership that Rolhfing initiated a legal action, that he spent donor funds illegally, that the Exec Cmte covered up the stealing, that they don’t have standing to follow up their threat to take HIRA to court. Reader “What a mess. All energy in bickering with each other instead of supporting one another to beat the Dems!“
Rohlfing/Hellreich/Liu (R/H/L) says they own the word Republican and any elephant logo. HIRA clarifies with Republicans Are Not Stupid, Confused, and Uninformed Like You Say. Turns out, HRP does not own the RNC elephant, or the word Republican and RNC Dumps HRP. Reader “Can we change to a more appropriate HRP logo by replacing the elephant with a rhino?“
Saiki, Hellreich, Marumoto & Liu threw Rohlfing under the bus. Humiliating Embezzlement Showdown At GOP HQ Meeting. Rohlfing secretly took $2500 of donor funds to retain a lawyer without approval. No one believes these micro-managers were unaware of the action or theft but they didn’t speak out until after HIRA exposed the stolen money.
Rohlfing used Smart’s $2500 CC table for the retainer and Sutton’s $2500 CC table for $350/hour fees. Under pressure, Rohlfing suddenly and abruptly adjourns the meeting. Readers “Not one person came to Rohlfing’s defense.” “Is the chair frivolously hiring lawyers on his own to fight HIRA?“
The Exec Cmte said the ‘cease and desist’ is a bad idea, told Rohlfing the RNC opposed it, publicly scolded him, and adjourned rather than take a vote. A week later in a quietly called meeting to fix the illegal activity, Hellreich, Smart, Marumoto, Saiki and the rest approved the expenditure. They were against it, before they were for it. Readers “That’s messed up.” “Are you ******* kidding me?! They scheduled an EXCOM meeting to approve the retainer and legal fees?“ They still haven’t told the State Cmte about the secret meeting to approve after-the-fact funds for the action no one wanted.
Some party members are angry that HIRA reported the HQ corruption and coverup, rather than angry about the corruption and cover up. Republican inaction is more proof of R legislators’ impotence (& the State Cmte). Two months past the deadline for their threat to take HIRA to court, HRP wants to bury this embarrassing episode.
-Rohlfing email “I am working hard to ensure that we are good stewards“ of the money you donate. Listen to the State meeting audio, read HIRA’s expose, follow the data in these reports; if Rohlfing isn’t lying about his stewardship, then he plain ‘ole needs to work harder at it.
By the numbers
- Reports from Saiki’s (ACU 50%) faux-audit, faux-coalitions, and faux election autopsy ‘committees.’
- Communications to HNL county members from anointed chair Fale(he). (ACU 50%)
- HRP lacks integrity to address Rs – Thielen (ACU 20%), Carroll, McDermott (60%), Pine, Fenton – who endorsed 2012 Ds against Rs. Add, 2014 Cheape (20%), Fukumoto (50%), Egge, and Hanneman’s ‘Rohlfing Rs.’
- months over-under for Exec Cmte. HQ is on the 3rd ED and 4th Treasurer. Several vice chairs left long-ago, other quit working. The State Cmte and legislators don’t care.
- Years without a HRP strategic, finance, or campaign (Victory) plan. State Cmte hasn’t approved the current ‘plan’.
- January, State meeting, moved to January 16 without telling anyone. (It’ll move again)
- months since Hellreich wrote “the need to use massive voter registration drives to Increase our chances of winning.” Two since she again said “We need voter registration drives.” Still not.
- Months since the ’12 required HRP financial audit was to be conducted. 24 since the ’13 audit was due. 13 since HRP chair promised. Donors don’t give when finances are in question.
- Days (as of January 2) to the Presidential election.
HRP is unable to challenge Democrats’ and liberals’ ideology until we solve our internal and administrative issues. We need a conservative, competent, organized, manned, and funded HRP with committed leaders. Republicans must first fix their house.
-District caucus meetings. Email to district chair “The HQ-dictated caucus meetings show how they’re backwards. HQ should allow, and essentially force, districts to make and execute their own plan. Doing the work for them makes for unprepared districts, untested leaders, and zero initiative. Why a county or district leader would put up with this escapes me.“ Less than a month and district chairs have ZERO guidance, nor been told that they are responsible to find a meeting location.
-Earned media. Everyone in politics reads and watches a lot. Daily, scores of pages, from everywhere. CB Blair (and others) whines that these reports are long. They are, but whining? Read two pages/day if it’s easier. A once/month report, and free at that. If you didn’t read these, you wouldn’t know there are Republicans in Hawaii. Critics are contradictory – they say these reports are lies (but can’t challenge the facts) or that no one reads them (so, how do they know the content), but then cry that the reports hurt their establishment. Haters hate it, though no one makes them read it.
-SA Cataluna now against rail “the fear is, the more money there is for rail, the more the cost for rail will go up. it’s not about doing the project right. It’s about using the project for one’s own personal agenda.“
–OCare. Ds want single payer. Theilen, Ward, then-legislators Pine, Marumoto, Ching, Fontaine, and then-Rs Johanson, Riviere voted for the failed $200M Health Connector. The Hill writes CEO of UnitedHealthcare commented about joining Obamacare, “It was for us a bad decision.”
–Ryan Budget Double Cross and What You Lost and Ryan Is The Establishment and What’s Wrong With The Budget. Eagle Forum “The American people lose while special interests and the president win.“ Limbaugh on why we shouldn’t support establishment Republicans GOP Sells America Down The River
-Liberal Republicans – Bush, Kasich, and heck, even NV Heck – won’t support an ‘outsider’ (Trump or Cruz) if nominated, but want our support if they win. In Hawaii, establishment Rs – Hellreich, Saiki, Lingle, Aiona and their minions – refuse to support conservatives such as Cavasso, Slom, Carroll and threw McDermott under the bus (causing him to crawl back to Lingle and Aiona and apologize for being what he considers conservative).
-Return of the Force. McDonald’s Nativity Scene goes viral.
-Gowdy to DHS “Is there another Constitutional right that we treat the same way for American citizens that we do the Second Amendment?” Gowdy In Charge
-Falwell at Liberty University. “If more good people had concealed-carry permits, then we could end those Muslims before they walked in.“ WaPo – Falwell Wants Everyone to Carry.
-Your government can’t stop terrorism, can’t stop home-grown terrorists, can’t stop mass shootings on campus or theaters, can’t stop illegal immigrants committing murder, can’t stop gang black-on-black killings. So, liberals’ solution is to take guns away from all Americans who follow the law.
-Join Hawaii Rifle Association to protect our gun (civil) rights. Be on the team. Ige should at least allow us to defend ourselves The Blaze: God Bless San Bernardino. Rasmussen snapshot of gun control Rasmussen – Americans Want Their Gun Rights “Americans are more interested in exercising their gun rights than giving them up.” NRA BoD election Lee Running for NRA Board.
-Many asking: I’m with Cruz and Cruz Hawaii.
ARE YOU SATISFIED? HRP needs leadership focused on HRP. Forward this – people need to know, you need to act. Part 2 coming.
