Trump & Cruz Voters Spank HRP Establishment, part 2

Readers’ Comments – Fukumoto vs McDermott – Presidential Caucus

I don’t necessarily agree with ALL our readers.  Fukumoto used donors’ dollars “$214 costumes for Beth? LOL. To “disguise” as being a Republican? Must not be working.“  “It is embarrassing for the Party to have heat towards HIRA and HIRA is the one alerting members to bad bills moving in the legislature. Instead of spending money and energy going after HIRA, the Party should spend money and energy informing it’s members of the bad bills that are passing through the legislative process. You can bet that if there’s a bill being heard in a committee that Dem activists and unions support or oppose, someone will be there to testify for it or against it.“  “Dump Donald Duck ! He is a Trojan Horse destroying the GOP!“  “I hope to institute a one day per week Trump rally along the roadside from the Convention until election day.“  “I’ve become very dissatisfied with those that call themselves Republicans in Hawaii.  It is in name only, because what I hear is the same old stuff of what we get from the Democrats.“

displayCPAC, conservative mega-gathering.  Straw poll: Cruz 40, Rubio 30, Trump 15.  12,000-13,000 attend.  Dozens of main stage presenters, 80-100 breakout sessions, 30 radio & TV booths.  Only three attend from Hawaii (it is a conservative event).  Class-less Trump cancels after the last minute, upsetting his supporters.  Dinner with Sheriff David Clarke.  Fiorina headlines Reagan dinner.  Center hall display highlights Hawaii legislature (see photo showing Hawaii as 2nd “Least Conservative State”).  Cruz, on stage, Cruz Rocks CPAC. I don’t necessarily agree with ALL our readers.  “The level of ridiculousness is too high for my tastes. I’m going to remain inactive for now….which is looking like forever.“  “This makes me angry over the slipshod way HRP is running.  Most of the people running the show have no clue, and have never participated when things were run well.”  “The people we have running the show have exceptionally awful people skills, to the point of bordering on antisocial personality disorder.  I have to minimize the amount of exposure I have around these people because, the closer you get, the sicker you get.“  “I suggest we make some serious leadership changes in the HI RP. Can’t continue like this. The game is money and the lack of effective & honest leadership. How can these people sleep at nites when their minds are full of corruption & betrayal?“  “You’d think [Fukumoto] would be in the loop to be more proactive instead they pick all the superficial useless issues …“

-Reader  After observing the Legislature for a month, I see no difference between the Rs and Ds.  Some Ds have better manners, more polite staff and are more principled than the Rs.  Hawaii is where a total charlatan can be a big fish in a small pond.  On the Mainland, some of these people in the Hawaii House or Senate, whether Ds or Rs would be waitresses or used car salesmen.  But in Hawaii, they can fool themselves and others into thinking they’ve arrived.

Caucus meetings.  1/3 of districts held organizing meetings with low, or no turnout.  1/3 more may do so by the end of March.  1/3 won’t do anything and no one will notice.  You have no idea which category is your district.   Welcome to HRP 2016.  HRP doesn’t want people to attend caucus meetings to become state delegates because those delegates will attend state convention and find that we have place-holders for national committeeman & woman, no election plan nor effort, and no Platform.  Districts are two months later in organizing for 2016 elections.  Three months out, vice chair Monahan and ED Tagavilla revealed there is no convention venue.  Now two months and no venue – voter suppression and HQ incompetence.

CNP, San Diego.  Google it if you’re curious.  Gaffney and Ashcroft were the two evening speakers,   Honored to be on a panel with Tony Perkins and Morton Blackwell to discuss national delegates and committees, the national convention and RNC rules.  Considerable discussion of a Scalia replacement.

-R debate, New Hampshire.  Top three are weak – Trump, Cruz, Rubio.  Governors – Bush, Christie, Kasich – do well.  Christie took Rubio to the woodshed.

-R debate, South Carolina.  Just when we didn’t need any more debates, we did.  Winners:  none.  Loser: Carson has become inconsequential.  Not his message, but his candidacy.

-R debate, Houston.  Sparks.  We needed these issues raised four months ago.

-Republican Overseas (RO) international call with Cruz.  150 reps, 20 countries.  Netherlands, Paris, Sweden, Singapore, Geneva, Hong Kong, Jerusalem, Canada, London, UK, Berlin, Luxemburg, more.  FATCA is major issue.  Cruz points of emphasis (Jobs, Growth, Opportunity.  Defending our constitutional rights. Restoring American Leadership in the world.).  Took questions for 50 minutes, sliding in that he has 175k volunteers, $47M raised from 690k contributors with most CoH of Rs.

RNC, Charleston.  Crucial meeting prior to the national convention, Rohlfing, Liu & Tagavilla skipNo rep at the ED or chairman meetings.  If previous meeting (and first debate) was important enough for chair, ED, NCM (and their families), this election-year meeting was apparently not.  Fiorina and Cruz teams most visible.  Haley (SC Gov), Deal (GA Gov), Scott (SC Sen) speakers.  (TWT on) Rules changes put off, again, so we’re still screwing with rules three months until convention.  Convention – some delegations are going to live far away.  Two so far running for RNC chairman election next January.

willes-lee-at-2016-south-carolina-gop-debate-R debate, South Carolina.  Better with only seven.  No change but responses are more substantive.  Trump, Rubio, Cruz separating from the rest, not just because of debates.  Undercard Fiorina established as a future contender.    Never know when you’re on national TV (Stebbins hat tip).

State Cmte.  Haven’t received audio yet, received six email.  Attendee “Liu never shows up, and Fale skips everything.  I can’t remember the last time the young or college republicans came but their names keep getting called.”  HRP has only 3/4 district seats with names and only 50% participate (and <5% of precinct seats, statewide).  Some meetings open with the Pledge, some in prayer, this one with the Rohlfing/Saiki Purity Pledge to warn districts that they’ll be booted if they disagree with HQ.  District chair “They said members are not to record the meeting which is a reference to the YouTube someone did of the last meeting.  They are considering making people check cell phones before meetings to prevent that from happening again.”  Rohlfing’s Action Plan for the entire state, which isn’t Strategic or even a plan, fits on three double-spaced pages;  approved by 43% of the state (22/51 districts attend).  Chair “They circulated a generic budget grouped by categories with only generic expenses and made us turn them in after looking at it.  Reminded me of the TPP Deal which was kept in a locked reading room “eyes only.”  Another:  “Budget didn’t include political messaging.  They can’t raise enough money – one round of direct mail to registered voters in my district costs $7,000+.  Multiply that by two or three into ten target districts and you can tell they don’t know what they’re doing.”  Chair “Idiots.  We could get more results in votes, fundraising, volunteers by ratcheting up the communications budget” because voters would be informed BEFORE our candidates hit their doors.  Attendee “Incredible that there are no rules that they follow, budgets & meetings are secret, so it’s now a secret society.“

Letter to NRA Board in Strong Support of Willes Lee

ENDORSEMENT FROM A NOTED CONSERVATIVE LEADER IN HAWAII:

Edward Gutteling, M.D.

Vice-President, Conservative Forum for Hawaii

14 January, 2016

NRA President James W. Porter II
11250 Waples Mill Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030

Dear President Porter :

On 5 January 2016, the entire republican contingent of our Hawaii state house of representatives wrote a letter to Mr. LaPierre regarding Mr. Willes Lee, candidate for the NRA Board of Directors.
The letter indicated they would be “unable to work with” him due to a litany of complaints regarding his criticisms and actions against them in their political rolls, and the Hawaii Republican Party in particular.
Because of their attitude to him, he “would be a poor advocate for constitutional gun rights in Hawaii”.
Note especially the absence of any criticism of him by our lone Republican state senator, Mr. Sam Slom.

Mr. Lee, a former Hawaii Republican Party state chairman, has a been a tireless supporter of our liberties as a free people, American Constitution and especially of our 2nd Amendment rights. He has also been extremely critical of those professing to support such, but who in practice come up very short. That means the entire state house Republican delegation, and state party.

He was responsible for bringing former NRA president David Keene to Hawaii for an historical first visit of such. I was honored to be involved as Vice-president of the Conservative Forum for Hawaii to bring him to our town of Hilo, where we had over 350 enthusiastic citizens attend his lecture. I will always be grateful to Willes for helping that happen.

I cannot imagine a better and more effective advocate for 2nd Amendment rights here in Hawaii, than Willes.  I endorse his role in the NRA completely, as he is an asset not a liability to your efforts.

The petty carping by these representatives is not reflective of the vast bulk of gun owners here in Hawaii, and should be ignored and rejected for the spiteful and self-serving thrust that it is. If they truly wish to understand the decline of the Republican Party in Hawaii, they should just look in the mirror.

Yours sincerely
Aloha
Edward Gutteling, M.D.

HIRA’s exposure of Saiki and R/H/L corruption shows that HRP needs cleansing.  Fearful R legislators are as culpable as the State Cmte is incompetent.

Readers’ Comments – Party News – Quick Hits

I don’t necessarily agree with ALL our readers.  “Why can’t HRP fight against Democrats instead of causing all this infighting?”  “Young Republicans game night? We still have a YR chapter in Hawaii? I have never been invited.“  “I long ago abandoned HRP.  I now support HIRA in full.  Let’s clean house.  If necessary start a criminal investigation.  We are dead in the water unless we band together for a fresh start.“  “Stuff from Civil Beat is poorly researched, poorly written and favors liberals and RINOs over conservatives.“  “This TheRail nonsense – to hell with their “too big to fail” boondoggles.“  District chair “HRP reminds me of the Democrats in state offices.  HRP leadership makes mistakes and then blames other people for something they should have done to begin with.  I’ve never seen anything like this.  If I were what they did – knowing now what HIRA revealed about the money situation – I’d not be able to sleep at night asking people to donate.“

-HIRA media for HRP.  Civil Beat – Hawaii’s Republican Insurrection.  Not all accurate, but close.  Blair steps up to address some issues which keeps the minority party … minor.  He passes on the current issue of embezzlement and fraud, afraid to call out the establishment.  Fearful of the media, “Rohlfing and [Tagavilla] did not respond to phone calls and emails seeking comment.“  That alone should have caused Blair to pause.  McDermott lies to get Blair to write about a photo HIRA used of a cozy Rohlfing and Tagavilla.  When told that the photo came from HRP’s FB post, Blair left it out of the article.  You’d think he’d figure out who is doing the lying.

-Some people hate the RNC, yet Priebus and team set fundraising records.  Some people hate the Washington Redskins, yet they are the third most valuable franchise in professional sports.  Some people hate the HRP ‘leaders’, yet … they fail repeatedly.  It isn’t the haters’ causing success or failure.

-HRP bosses – Rohlfing, Saiki, Hellreich, Liu, Ready, McDermott, Tagavilla, Smart – blame their problems on HIRA; lack of funds, lack of district chairs and volunteers, lack of principles, lack of a message, lack of messaging, lack of a spine.  Then, they call HIRA a couple of unimportant ‘radicals’, too few to make a difference.  They can’t argue the fact, so they use name calling.  When the establishment hates HIRA this much, HIRA must be doing something right.  This crew is not ready to challenge Dems though HIRA is making them step up their game.

-Rohlfing’s ‘Action Plan’ isn’t.  Tagavilla’s list of general goals & undefined programs for a state party fits on three double-spaced pages.  Tagavilla presented it to the State Cmte as a final plan, not realizing it requires State Cmte approval.  The 2015 draft plan wasn’t presented until the END of 2015.  Rohlfing wouldn’t discuss 2016.  Your uninterested State Cmte had not one queston.

No organization does more to destroy the Republican brand than the Hawaii Republican Party.  A pro-life national Platform; HRP elects pro-abortion Saiki.  A record-setting RNC fundraising cycle; Rohlfing owns the two lowest raising months of the last decade.  A historic majority in the US House & majority in the Senate; HRP has 1/25 senators and 7/51 reps.  The RNC fights tax increases; ‘leader’ Fukumoto supports tax increases.  Star-Advertiser declares HRP “irrelevant”; conservatives flock to HIRA’s conservative message.  Republican Assemblies formed 1934, once led by Reagan on his way to the Governorship and Presidency, as the solution to the establishment without principles.  HRP tries to dent what Milner writes “Death is not too strong a word to use here. Influence-wise, the Republicans here are gone, and there is no resurrection on the horizon.  So it is safe to see one-party control as a given.”  Republican Party is Dead The Assemblies remain the Republican Wing of the Republican Party.

-Rohlfing last summer fudged a budget which reflects his ignorance.  It included no funds for elections nor anything other than salary and overhead (and no budget for a lawyer to sue HIRA).  Rohlifing this winter presented a finance plan which has no relationship to his budget nor financial requirements, and has NO goal for 2016, LDD, telemarketing, nor mail.  His finance director admits they’ll raise less than they need for salary and overhead, yet Tagavilla in December asks district chairs for input to a new budget.  Party rules require the budget to be approved in December and, per a district chair, “a budget for 2016 should already be prepared.“  Your politically-challenged State Cmte hasn’t asked a single question.  District chair to HRP “why should I waste my time filling out a survey relating to the phantom budget?“  “The Executive Committee is going to approve the expenditure of funds, before or after a transaction, regardless of what guidance the State Committee provides via this survey.“  HRP enters January without even a draft election year budget.

-Rohlfing’s HRP Financials review team – Finance Chairman Felix, National Committeeman Liu, and Treasurer Smart offer no hope for an impartial, objective review.

-Instead of raising funds or recruiting district chairs, Rohlfing uses six weeks following his State Cmte beat down to conduct a witch hunt for sources of several embarrassing email and recordings which document his theft of donor funds and Hellreich’s fundraising fraud.  Insisting the state meeting, open to all party members and transmitted over a conference call line, is closed (a word not in party rules), the ‘leaders’ are so paranoid that they prohibit district chairs from providing information to their members.  District chair Schaedel says he was contacted by a cmte member who was told to report to HQ for an inquisition board.  “No, I do not know who made the recording.  A State Committee member contacted me and asked me if I had been contacted.  I said no.  That member stated that Jack James contacted the member to see if the member would meet with Jack, Ted Liu and Boyd Ready.  The Board of Inquiry is a HQ activity, so everyone must know about it.  Jack did not provide the purpose of the meeting, so the member refused to meet with them.“  If you know the sources, thanks them for the transparency.

– As NFRA Executive VP signed CAP Memo to the Movement to Stop Funding Bad Policies, Tea Party Patriots Memo to Movement oppose IRS collecting SSN.

-HRP was criticized when Rohlfing said he had an open process to hire the best possible Executive Director.  District chair “Fritz mentioned during the state committee meeting that they had openly announced a vacancy for Executive Director and conducted exhaustive interviews.  What?  When?  If I had known there was a vacancy, I would have applied for it.“  This month another district chair writes “I may have applied for ED.  Former House staffer, Office Manager, Caucus Manager, former State Secretary, RNC convention delegation aide… and more.  Never provided the opportunity to even consider applying for the position.“   Someone at HQ is not being honest.

-Fukumoto (ACU 50%) for Council.  Pine is recruiting Fukumoto to run (against Bunda) for Martin’s seat.  To spice the offer, Pine hires Clinton-supporter Fukumoto sister to city office staff.  Fukumoto joins democrats, ‘big spending is fiscally conservative’, giggle, giggle “I’ll raise taxes because I am no Gene Ward’, women deserve more, ‘I support ACLU and NORML.’

Conservative pulse: websiteFacebook, Twitter.

-Aiona spent a year being coy to discourage other Rs from running for Governor.  Again ego feeding, CB – Will Aiona Run for Mayor “[Aiona] will neither “confirm nor deny” that he’s weighing a run“.  It is good that Aiona says he does not support rail.  It is bad that he has never done a thing to oppose it.  LG Aiona said he was a decision-maker when Lingle supported rail, opposed rail, then let the rail GET increase become law.  Reader “I personally fought Aiona’s stooges on the HRP platform committee.  There’s no way this guy is against the wasteful rail project.  They battled to position the party as pro-rail, or neutral because Fukumoto and McDermott also support it.“  Dems are confused – Aiona Bashed in CB “Currently, the Hawaii GOP holds zero federal offices, zero statewide offices, one state Senate seat and seven seats in the state House.“  Aiona now says he’ll perhaps run for other than mayor, having promised to never run for anything but Governor.  Comment in CB “Aiona’s zombies who control Hawaii Republican Party fought the past 10 years to keep the party on the sidelines, rather than fighting against rail.  Aiona is a phony two-faced opportunist.  Anti-rail is his latest fashion trend.  Aiona’s last fashion was traditional marriage.  How many times did he testify against SSM?  Zero.  When did he activate his campaign apparatus to fight SSM?  Never.”  Djou and Carlisle names also being raised for Mayor.

Hawaii Presidential Campaigns

Bush spent $38 Million for 5% in the polls, and no early state success.  HRP is stagnant as Saiki, Marumoto, Hellreich(he) does Bush Hawaii instead of their HRP job.  Tell your elected Exec Cmte to quit and let someone who cares about HRP do the job.

Cruz Earns Allegiance (Disclaimer, I am a CNP member).  NFRA Convention was first to endose Cruz.  Disclaimer: I’m with Cruz Hawaii.

Trump pays for ballot access.  HRP favors establishment Bush by NOT announcing the Trump team or they broke their own rules by granting ballot access without a leadership team.

Hawaii Santorum FB page up.

-Santa Fe New Mexican “Martinez found herself attracting a different sort of national attention after the release of a recording in which she told law enforcement dispatchers that police should not investigate disturbance complaints against her group at a Santa Fe hotel.“ Campaigned with now-Governor Martinez in NM for her first primary so I believe “a policeman’s recording has Martinez drunk”.  Rohlfing should take his witch hunt to NM to punish the source of the recording, rather than address Marinez’s inebriation.

-Murder is bad. Terrorism is bad.  Mass shootings (and bombings) are bad.  Living in fear is bad.  Don’t confuse the Administration’s inability to deal this with the desire for law-abiding Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights.  We have a right to carry whether or not Obama and Ige are competent.

-Radical Islamic terrorists using Trump-speak to recruit?  No one believes people who chant ‘Death to America’, shoot and stab us in America, and burn the US flag can hate us more or need more motivation.

-Liberal WaPo must have gone nuts having to write Massive Decline in Gun Violence.

-If Obama did his job instead of wasting liberals’ time trying to take my civil rights, we wouldn’t need a political arm of the NRA.  Response to Obama, LaPierre’s Best Video

-Virginia ends much of their reciprocity, Seattle makes gun-purchase ‘violence’ tax…. all to hinder law-abiding citizens instead of criminals and terrorists.

-Join NRA to protect your (gun) civil rights.  Schumer Wants Your Guns.  Do NOT take the 2A for granted.  New NRA ads are GOOD freedoms-safest-place.  Rasmussen’s large poll in November, which the minstream conveniently missed Americans Say NRA is the Good Guys.  NRA BoD election Lee Running for NRA Board.

-HRP FEC www.fec.gov  November is BLACK, barely.  HIRA forcing party to step up, HRP breaks even for a second month.  Hiring, finally, an FD = more first-time donors.  Rohlfing spends all the money, again leaving zero for messaging or Victory 2016.  Receipts $20,317 = 15,761 contributions + 3805 CSC transfer + 750 RNC.  Sustaining Donors on record: up to  8/14 Exec Cmte (not Liu or Saiki), only 4/51 District chairs, up to 19 members.  When leaders don’t buy in, don’t expect others to do so.  Disbursements $19,334 = $3366 Tagavilla salary+1444 payroll tax+354 health insurance, 1476 mortgage+600 mortgage principal+2731 building maint, 2609 IMS accounting, 253 phone, 2150 mail appeal, 451 Presidential caucus facilities, several bills not paid (cable, copier).  Zero campaign or election expenditures.  CoH for operations 24k (plus CSC 9.9k CC soft money +7k counties).  Also, 37.5k mortgage account for 98k remaining mortgage.  HRP again NOT reporting full Presidential caucus expenses. 7 of 11 months this CY and 9/13 months this election cycle in the RED.  HRP CY FEC now 11.4k in the RED including LDD & CC revenue & Bush campaign; election cycle in the RED 41k, using ’14 RNC funds Saiki (ACU 50%) did NOT use to elect Republicans.  HRP red 22/35 past reports.  Seven Rohlfing FEC months:  including Bush money and CC event, R/H/L raised 16.7k/month and spent 20k/month for a total shortfall of 22.6k.  HRP red 4/7 months since Hellreich crowned Rohlfing.

Threatening Rs, Part Two

– December 5 Pacific Aviation Museum Raiser, Ford Island

– January 20 Hawaii Legislative Session Opens

HIRA’s exposure of Saiki and R/H/L corruption shows that HRP needs cleansing. Fearful R legislators are as culpable as the State Cmte is incompetent.

Readers’ Comments – Party News – Quick Hits

I don’t necessarily agree with ALL our readers. “Oh my. Why can’t HRP fight against Democrats instead of causing all this infighting?” “As long as laziness reigns at the Hawaii GOP, so long as flimsy, weak candidates are worshipped, then the Hawaii GOP will be perpetual strangers to victory and dilettantes in political power.“ “It’s idiotic that Saiki as a former chair puts out an eblast to members praising Gabbard for returning contributions. You NEVER praise people for doing late what they should have done in the first place. What the hell is going on at HQ?“ “When HIRA waves their red flag, there is truth behind it.“ “Fritz wanted to scare off HIRA for sharing the truth.“ “My posts on the HRP fb page has put their nose out of joint and I am now blocked by them.“ “Mark Moses at the State Committee meeting mentioned the (HRP) website not working. Half the links on the GOP Hawaii page are under construction or just don’t work, which presents a very unprofessional image.“

State Committee Meeting. Postponed from October. Agenda only 48 hours prior, 1/14 Exec reports, two Exec Cmte elections scheduled without party notification. The strategic & finance plan are to be presented, postponed from the required June deadline. Ready says he again missed the Rules deadline to provide past minutes, at the rescheduled meeting they’re four months late.

Saiki successfully boosts attendance to support her Treasurer candidate. Many districts remain empty, 28/51 districts (55%) were represented. Only 7/16 NI chairs (44%).
